Xi Shan Restaurant Menu redesign
The logo is call 喜善. “喜”is Love and “善”is Happy. So for “喜”I just use the heart shape to express it’s love. For “善”I use the bowl shape, because it looks like a happy face, and also can express that is a chinese restaurant. The logo I made the die cut, because the first page inside is flash gold color. When the menu has been covered, it will shows dark brown, dark red and flash gold color combination for the Logo.
Normally, Chinese color style are Red & Gold. So for the menu I used gold, dark red and dark brown combination. Then use the chinese rope to tie it up and match together. The flower pattern is a chinese style. Then I used the dark red flash dust to cover the flower pattern to make it more attractive.
Slogan is called 享受喜與善的菜色(Enjoy the meal with your love and happiness)
Xi Shan Restaurant menu is too simple and cheap style.This menu design look half grand and half chinese, but they are not very, they each only stand on the middle place. At the first time when I went into this restaurant, I cannot find where the menu is, because their design doesn’t look like a menu, and I don’t know what is the food inside a menu shown. What I can do is trying to redesign the menu with decide one style. Then base on one style to redesign their menu. It would be easier to work.
I chose Palace Restaurant for good sample to reference. Because it has it’s independent style, for example this restaurant is for people who wants to have wedding banquet, so it must design a grand style. They used the heavy gram cardboard for cover design, which is looks grand as well. Then it would be easier to understand it is a menu.
Jade Restaurant is even better sample. The menu cover has also used the heavy gram cardboard, and it has it’s independent style as well. But one thing different is they have add some images on the menu, to make it looks more attractive. So this can be reference for me to design a menu.
